A Retractable Outdoor Lighting System Now Available

Retract-A-Light® is a low voltage landscape lighting system that enhances the beauty of your home because it fully retracts into the ground. By retracting it is protected from lawn maintenance damage from mowers and weed trimmers. Made of environment resistant materials, the system overcomes most of the drawbacks of conventional landscape lights – it hides away during the day.

Outdoor landscape lighting normally extends above the ground lurking in long grass and under bushes waiting to be tripped over, mowed down, bent or even vandalized. This patented retractable outdoor system sits below ground level during the daylight hours and when triggered by a timer, extends at night to provide dramatic lighting in any outdoor landscape.

Developed in the late 90's, Retract-A-Light is powered by air and has been extensively tested to ensure it operates reliably in all weather conditions. The simple light fixture design is topped with a sleek glass lens makes this system popular in elegant landscape designs.

The Retract-A-Light comes in a kit that includes a controller which houses the 12 volt transformer, pneumatic compressor, and 24 hour timer, plus six lights fixtures, and all the hosing and wiring needed to install the system. The system plugs into any standard 110 volt outlet and the lights have a 10 watt MR-11 halogen bulb with a cone lens. When extended, the light fixture rises to 8 inches above the ground to illuminate an 8 foot diameter area. The compressor provides 30 pounds of pressure sufficient to push the lights up through snow and ice.

With a 12 volt output this controller can supports up to 13 lights and a distance of 100 feet. Further distances and more lights are possible with an optional controller. Additional light fixtures, replacement parts and the higher volt controller are available directly from Retract-A-Light or through authorized outlets. For installation on stairs, docks and decks, deck mount kit is also available.
